Facilities

The KIIT School of Fashion Technology have the following facilities for the students, staffs as well as researchers for their professional development and enrichment.

Design Laboratory

Design Laboratory is a creative laboratory, where the students will transfer the thoughts of their mind and heart to necessary documents. This laboratory helps the students, using their creativity to bring science to design for society. In addition, It also trains a new generation of designers, who combine profound scientific knowledge with creative design skills, an entrepreneurial attitude and the ability to anticipate the social dimensions of new technologies.

Garment Construction Laboratory

To understand garment construction is to appreciate the quality of a beautifully constructed garment that will last decades. Garment construction laboratory will help to learn the basic and core sewing techniques to create any garment while at the same time give you a designer’s eye for quality that’ll turn you into a smarter shopper. Our laboratory with its facility are aimed to create professional level clothes making and production skills, from beginners to advanced levels, across a range of different garments. It have a complete range of apparel manufacturing equipments and most of the garment construction equipments are from JUKI

Weaving Laboratory

Weaving is the process of formation of the fabric, where a designer can convert the creative dream to reality. With fiber, texture, structure, and technique, the motion through the process of weaving creates the specific fabric for the specific application. Thus he weaving laboratory transforms the creativity of the designers to the product by means of the facility of the laboratory like sample looms, tapelooms.

Pattern Making & Draping Laboratory

Pattern making is the art of designing patterns. It involves design and creation of templates for the basic garment formation. Pattern making lab enables the students to create patterns independently for different kinds of garments. It provides the students with hands-on experience while nurturing their creativity for fashion designing. The beautiful mannequins and dress forms provide physical form and shape to the creations. Facilities in the lab includes: (a) Pattern Making Tables (b) Dress forms (c) Mannequins

Computer-Aided Designing Laboratory

Computer-Aided Designing (CAD) is the use of computer systems to assist in the creation, modification, analysis, or optimization of a design. CAD software is used to increase the productivity of the designer, improve the quality of design, improve communications through documentation, and to create a database for manufacturing. CAD output is in the form of electronic files for print. With the help of various CAD software packages, the students will learn how computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing can be applied to the traditional skills of pattern cutting, grading, lay planning, fashion design and fabric design in terms of weave design, colour design or print design.

Colour (DYEING AND PRINTING) Laboratory

Testing Laboratory

A designer should learn and aware of the analysis procedure regarding the quality of the input material as well as the product. The testing laboratory helps the students to study different testing of fibres, yarns and fabrics used in garments and apparels with the facilities available in the laboratory.

Resource Centre

Resource centre provides information through its library to extend aand enrich their knowledge and skill through the facilities. KIIT as well as KIIT School of Fashion Technology has a well-equipped library with the latest in reference books, journals and magazines. The students also have access to the libraries of sister institutions books both Indian and foreign, scientific journals, magazines and periodicals covering technical and management subjects.
