KIIT school of fashion technology organizes an exciting 1-week industry visit for the third-year students every year, between December to January. The visit allows students to explore different industries related to fashion, textiles, and Garment and Home Furnishings. Let’s take a look at the itinerary for this visit.
This year the visit was held from 16th Dec to 20 Dec 2024 accompanied by Prof. Bauri Raula and prof. Biswaranjita Mohapatra. During their industry visit, KSOFT students of Batch 2022, explored a range of exciting industries. On Day 1, they visited Alps Industries Pvt Ltd in Sahibabad and Meerut, where they learned about textile production, from raw materials to finished products. Day 2 took them to Kalam Kari, a well-known name under the Ritu Kumar Brand in Gurgaon, where they explored traditional Indian design techniques like Kalamkari painting in modern fashion. On Day 3, students visited Afflatus International in Manesar, a leading apparel manufacturer, to understand global fashion trends and exports. Day 4 involved trips to Designer Village near NIFT, Hauzkhaz, Delhi, where students witnessed the creative process & styles of the designers, and markets like Sarojini Nagar and Nehru Place, for fabric and accessory sourcing. On the final day, students checked out of their hotel and departed for Bhubaneswar, reflecting on the valuable knowledge and hands-on experiences gained during the trip, which will aid in their future careers.
Apart from gaining practical knowledge, industry visits also open doors for internships and job opportunities. During their visits, students meet professionals, ask questions, and express their interest in working with these companies. Many companies that students visit offer internships to help students gain more hands-on experience. Some students even secure job offers after impressing the company representatives during these visits.
Internships are especially valuable because they provide real work experience, help students build their resumes, and offer networking opportunities. By making a good impression during an industry visit, students can get their foot in the door for potential job openings in the future.
Industry visits are one of the best ways for students to gain practical knowledge, build networks, and explore different career options. By visiting companies and factories, students learn about the challenges and rewards of working in various industries. They get a firsthand look at how businesses operate and how different jobs contribute to the economy.
