On 7th August 2025, the School of Fashion Technology, KIIT Deemed to be University proudly organized the prestigious event “KRITANTUJA-2025.” on the observation of National Handloom Day 2025 in the presence of   distinguished   of Prof. Dr. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty Registrar, Prof. Himanshu Sekhar Khatua, Director General, SFM, SFT & KSFT. Prof. S.S. Ray, Director General, School of Architecture and planning, KSAP, Shri Adwaita Gadanayak, Director General, KAA; Prof. Bauri Raula, Dean, KSFT, Ms. Gipsita Nayak, Deputy Director, KSAC. The event was led by Mr. Parthasarathi Bal, Faculty Associate, FIC, and Mr. Padma Charan Majhi, Assistant Professor, KIIT School of Fashion Technology under the inspiring guidance of respected Prof. H.S Khatua. 

The occasion was graced by the presence of Padmashree Gobardhan Panika, who honored the event as the Chief Guest. Sri Bhuwan Bhaskar, Assistant Director of DC Handicrafts, Bhubaneswar, as the Chief Speaker, whose presence added further prestige to the gathering.

KSFT were honoured to have the esteemed weavers, Padmashree Awardee Gobardhan Panika, National Awardee Shri. Bidhyadhar Mohanto, State Awardee Shri Chandan Meher, and panellists Sri Bhuwan Bhaskar, Assistant Director of DC Handicrafts, BBSR, Mr. Ramkrishna Meher, Jury Member, National Award Selection Committee, Govt. of India, Mr. S. K. Patra, Ex Dy Director WSC. Govt of Inda, Prof. Bauri Raula, Dean, School of Fashion Technology and Prof. Biswaranjita Mohapatra as the Moderator joined the event. The event celebrates the rich heritage and craftsmanship of India’s handloom industry, highlighting the significance of preserving traditional artforms and promoting traditional practices. 

It was a wonderful day looking at the engaging discussions, insightful panel discussion and meaningful interaction that enriched our understanding and appreciation of Indian handlooms and their role in cultural identity. 

A special highlight of Kritantuja 2025 was the captivating Handloom Collection Runway presented by the talented students of KSOFT Model Club – Couture Clique, guided by Mr Partha Bal and Ms. Laxmi Thapa. Their graceful showcase of handloom ensembles reflected the elegance, diversity, and cultural depth of India’s textile traditions, bringing the spirit of craftsmanship to life on stage. A Product development and Debate competition was also conducted to encourage the students understanding and interest in Handloom. 

The guidance and support of Ms. Monalisa Das, Ms. Vanshika Khare, Mr. Laxman Soren, Mr. Vikram Kumar, and Mr. Rajakishor Moharana, whose mentorship played a pivotal role in preparing the students and ensuring the success of the competition and the event as a whole.

The event concluded gracefully with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Biswaranjita Mohapatra, Asst. Professor, School of Fashion Technology and expressed deep gratitude to Honourable founder of KIIT, KISS & KIMS Dr. Achyuta Samant, Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Saranjit Sing and Respected Registrar. Prof. Dr. Jyanranjan Mohanty for their support & cooperation and all other dignitaries, present in the events to make the “Kriti Kalpana ” event successful.
